You not only CAN but I would go so far as to say you MUST!!
When you blow one of those it will supply many gallons of gas
under your hood before you know what has happened.
Get clamps that go all the way around the hose with a solid strip
of metal, because the rubber extrudes through the slots in a worm-gear
clamp when it is good and tight.
