It depends... 140-160

That sounds like either setting is within 4%. Depending on rear-end ratio, or even tire size, I think you could get outside that easily. There are threads about the stock rear-end ratios and many sites about tire size.

In my case, I'm using a T5 ford tranny in my 145, which I think probably has a 4.11 rear, which has interchangeable gears to correct the speedometer. I corrected as best I could for the odometer, over a known length of road, and it comes up just shy, about 1.5% under. My speedometer was tehn reading high about 3%.

Rather than fool with this any further, my next step is to use a GPS.
