Last week, among other things, I changed the torque rod bushings on my 95 940. I still have a significant CLUNK when I accelerate or decelerate and when at a stop I change from neutral to reverse or to drive. I also was surprised to find that when it came time to install the upper torque rod I had to put a tranny jack on the differential and jack it up in order to rotate the rear end enough to get the bolt into the frame end of the rod. Once installed, the u-joint to differential yoke appeared to be at an approximately 5 to 10 degree angle. I didn't expect to have to jack the differential to rotate the rear end to align the bolt as it didn't move when I removed it, nor did I expect that the rear u-joint to yoke angle would be anything but dead-on straight. Now don't think I'm crazy but I was rushed to finish the job at the time of reassembly. I installed them based on their length. Could I have installed them in reverse...ie: lower in place of upper rod? I think not because of the length differential between them ...but now I'm wondering and second guessing myself. Any ideas?
