possibly your trunk seal 700 1988

Dirt accumulates around the rubber trunk seal. Clean it off, because dirt doesn't seal out water very well. Took me a while to figure out where the water was coming from on mine too, except the water was accumulating on the sidewells (next to the lights) and not the spare tire. I kept checking the light fixtures for leaks but there were none. No wonder, because it was the trunk seal.
