Well I do have some original window shade radiator blinds in the parts bin.
I'll give it a shot, the worst thing that can happen is that I'll get eaten by a bear while doing a roadside "adjustment" :)
(note: its never a roadside repair, always an adjustment)
If this job works out the challenge will be getting four old swedes up the Alaska highway, but how bad can it be to drive them all on a beautiful roadway.
