I once pulled one off with an hydraulic puller. Man was that bugger stuck! I lett it soak in oil and heated it up a wee bit, again put on the puller and it came off with a very loud bang. If I had not fitted the nut on the end of the shaft, I'm sure the arm would have gone flying through my garage.
Putting grease in it would stop the leaking, but I'm not sure the internals would like it though, although I cannot think of a reason why they wouldn't actually. Maybe just try?
