I had the same problem with my 1998 S70 sedan. Check the archived files in the S70/V70 area. If I recall correctly there was a small switch that wasn't being properly triggered by the mechanical system that "pulls" the cd into the player. I've also found that if I try to play a CD-R or CD-RW that I've burned it will only play about 1/2 the time. Regular "store-bought" CD's play just fine.
