BW35, no clutch in Reverse? 140-160 1975

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There's no way the starter motor should be able to spin the motor hard enough to do more than make a faint nudge on the tranny through that torque converter (which just sloshes trans fluid between parts hooked to the motor and parts hooked to the transmission).

They never made locking convertors on cars back then either AFAIK. I'd guess something is amiss inside that convertor. Check the trans oil for metal shavings?
