Mig welding, Just curious on your thoughts

When I weld on a reealy expensive car, I sometimes disconnect the battery out of paranoia, but I've never had a problem. I have also made a lot of sucessful jumpstarts with the fuel injected charging car running.
You'll likely only have a problem when you are sure it is safe?????
