I wanted to buy some nice clear headlamp lenses but the cost has been preventative. Instead I ordered a "headlight refinishing kit" from Eastwood CO. for 11.99 plus a bogus 7.99 for shipping. When it arrived the tube actually read "aluminum polish" but, it came with a soft cloth buffer and bit for the drill, and I did not feel like dealing w/ the hassle of sending it back. I did the outside of both lenses, and the inside of the drivers side lens. Both are great. 150% better. I can see at night on dark two lane roads, with the high beams on I can see into the trees, just the way that it should be.
Polishing the inside of one lens made that one more clear, and cleaning the crud off of the silvery parabolic reflector seems to have helped. Warning, as others have posted, the silver will wear off w/ a solvent or too much friction. I gently used soapy water and a soft cloth.
I am not trying to promote that product; I think many polishes and the effort will bring about the a similar effect.
thanks for all the advice
