Seems to me the voltage will only go as high as it needs to to jump the spark gap. A higher voltage indicates that the ignition system is working harder to fire the plugs.
I can think of no way the computer could detect this, so i doubt that it is setting the code.
Mixture problems would more likely be things such as fuel pressure (FPR) or O2 sensor. Perhaps a leaky fuel injector.
