Do you need to deck the block? 700 1989

Can't tell from the pic, but it looks like there may be some proud metal between the sleeve and the block that could make a weak spot for the head gasket.

Of course, sometimes stuff happens and headgaskets fail.
But I haven't failed a headgasket on a B230FT for over 270K miles on one car (RIP, sold to a lady in PA) and currently 145K on another...and running 15psi boost on the current car!!

Or did the HG fail due to overheat?
