Hello All,
I'm new to this forum and am in need of a little assistance. I just bought a 1966 122 Canadian. I got it for a very good deal as the engine was making a racket, but the rest is very complete and just in need of a little TLC. I had a poke around the engine compartment last night and would like to get some sage advice.
There is compression on all four cylinders, the engine runs and drives just fine and I had a listen (with a mechanics stethoscope) and valve noise etc all sound good. The noise seems to be coming from the timing gear (I had a listen to the cover and it was very loud). Is this possible? The frequency of the noise increases with engine RPM and is quite loud.
Any thoughts before I pull the front of the car apart?
Cheers,
Craig
