The above is not true.
1) While the BW55 (and earlier, e.g., BW35) used Type F, the later AW70/71 transmissions also specified Type F through 1983. Only in 1984 did the specifications change to Dexron.
2) Looking at the owners manuals for my 1983 (which uses Type F in the transmission) as well as for my '84 and '93 (which use Dexron in their transmissions), they only say to use "ATF" for the Power Steering. Nowhere does it read "Type F" fluid for the P/S. So it would seem that the owner should use whatever fluid is used in the transmission for that model year [e.g., for the '93, it specifies "Dexron IID or IIE", which was the version available at that time in the past].
