Broken Clutch Cable - Did I Replace It Right ? 200

The 86 240 has the weight set up you described as opposed to the earlier return spring, so no return spring on this year 240 is normal. I'd adjust the play on the release fork to 1/8 inch to make sure the clutch fully disengages when shifting. Too much play and getting it into gear may be a problem, too little play and the clutch will slip. Hope this helps.
