Cam position sensor question..... 200 1990

(Like Rule 308, I assume you mean the Crank Position Sensor.)

I think it is difficult to measure these things without an oscilloscope. Without access to equipment like that, the best way is to simply replace it with a known good one. I replaced the one on my son's car last week, and the stalling problem disappeared. As the cost for the part only represented a half hour of diagnostic work at the dealer, I found I had little to lose with just try.

One tip when reinstalling: Whatever you do, don't drop the bolt into the bellhousing - if you do, you face a transmission-out-job. I folded a piece of paper in four, made a hole in one end for the bolt to go through, and was able to safely position the bolt without risk of losing it. When it had entered the threads, I just yanked the improvised paper holder free.

Erling.
