Engine noise has me stumped! 700 1988

A cam bearing huh? What makes you think it is a cam bearing? I have never been in a car when the cam seized and it has been years since I've seen a red engine with a seized cam so I have no idea what it sounds like. So are you thinking it is seizing or that it has so much clearance in it that it is rattling around? If it is that loud I would think that you could get a mechanic's stethoscope and put it on each cam journal to isolate the noise. Of course it would be a tad on the messy side.
