my solution. 200 1986

So, I ended up cutting polyurethane instead of metal. Maybe not all 240s have this, but on mine the 2 outer mounting ears for the front of the trailing arm each have an upside down v welded to the inside of the ear. This v may help locate the OE bush center tube and reinforce the ear, but it interferes with the poly bush which has a lip to fill in space between the shell and the mount ear. To fit the poly bushings I sliced a notch in the poly with a razor blade so they would fit snugly into v feature. It would make more sense had I taken pictures, but it's too late now.
