Possible Purchase 200

Since Jenny decided not to sell her ’88 240 with an M47 I have been on the hunt. (Jenny had posted an offer for sale here several months ago.)

I am looking at a 1987 245 with an M47. Runs ok. That’s all that’s good. I have been a 940 aficionado for some time, hence the name, and have not worked on 240s too much in the past. My goal, a late model 245 with an M47.

Problems:
Back foot well rusted out.
RH door bottom hinge attachment at the door is all but gone.
Sounds as if the cat has separated completely from the down pipe.
Glove compartment door, who needs one?
Bumper cover flapping in the wind.
There is a long list. The car is a mess.
What about the wire harness?!?!?

Positives: Ah, ah oh yeah, 2 year old clutch and it moves under its own power.

Manuals are rare, M47s are even rarer. This car should be headed to the junkyard less the tranny. I’ll offer $200, make it some what presentable and drivable (I hope), soak 3-4 bills into it with a bunch of labor and sell it or use it as a parts car when my ship (a respectable 245) comes in.

I hope they don’t take my offer. Stay tuned. I may need the kind help of the 240 forum.
Just ranting, thanks for listening.
