Object on cable inside passenger door - What does it do? Also stop light problem 444-544

Can't help with the window.

I know some others disagree, but I don't think the brake light switch is a big problem. I haven't had issues with mine...but I do make sure to keep the switch clean on the inside as well as the outside. I remove it every other year and douse it with brake cleaner.

I also check that it's working as often as I can. But I do that with any old car I have regardless of it having a mechanical or "wet" switch.

I think these switches get a bad rap due to lack of maintenance.
