Shift Lock-out 200 1991

Don't think that the soda spillage had not crossed my mind. However, the area is pretty clean, so my daughter really did quite a good job cleaning up, if that's what it was.

Basically, I will check that the brake lights are coming on, which I guess you are saying is the same switch at the brake pedal that releases the shifter.
If all is right there, I will take the cover off the shifter, and see what is happening there. Is the solenoid visible when I remove the cover?

I drive a '88 740 which I am sure should have the same mechanism. However, the previous owner must have disconnected it, because I can shift out of Park without putting my foot on the Brake.
