While we are waiting for Damian: I've been giving mine a thorough sanding with fine grit paper and degreasing with lacquer thinner, and then just painting it with the crinkle spray paint, no primer. This does the job for me. Of course, I'm using the black paint, since I've not been able to find the gray, but then, I never liked the gray anyway and I dont compete in shows
