B18 and B20 heads are cast iron and 5/16"-24 is the UNF thread, while the
manifold studs are all 5/16"-18 UNC. If he already had 3/8" threaded rod
in there the hole is probably threaded either 3/6"-16 or 10mm (even bigger)
so a 5/16" helicoil will not be big enough, plus will not fit the threads
in the head.
