stalling 700 1991

I have a 740 living in Arizona. When the car heates up, meaning when I go home from work and the car was standing on the sun whole day, after about 10 miles or so the car starts to hesitate, eventually the engine cuts off. At evening or morning when the outside temperature is not so hot the car drives very nice. As the engine cuts off the tachometer is following the engine, does not falls to 0 right away. So I assume that I have a fuel problem. So, I instrumented the 2 fuel pumps, with LED's, turns out that the tank pump did not work. It had no plus or return voltages what so ever. So I paralel wired the 2 pumps externally. Then I lost the return, so I connected the return to a ground point on the car. Currently the car runns fine, I do not know how it will run in the heat yet. I exchanged the fuelpump relay already, it did not help. I assume that I have a grounding (return) problem. Somewhere the 2 fuel pump wires are connected to a grond rod, plate whatever. Could someone tell me where is that big ground rod is? According to the schematics at least 15 wires are attached to that grondrod, so is has to be a big piece at least 10 inches or so. However Im unable to locate in the car. Guys I greatly appretiate your help Gabriel, happy owner of 4 Volvos.
