Wiring question again 140-160

There is two sources of power & two fuses. One source while the ignition is on for the indicators, the other disregards the ignition for the hazard lights.

A test light & a volt meter are all the test equipment you need.

Rheostat: are you refering to the dimmer for the dashboard/instrument lights?
