It seems hit and miss if shops will give out previous history.

Of the few shops I've for in my area, both have declined. Reason? Because the previous owner paid for the work and hence records, they still belong to them.

In this case you need to contact the previous owner and ask him if Chip and Pepper's Volvo shop in anytown, U.S. will release their records of your Volvo.

It's useful information indeed ... wish I could have gotten mine.
