R12a vs R134a

Hi there:

Anyone tried R12a as a replacement for R12 (Freon). Read that one can use it in existing system without any retrofit as is the case of R134a. Apparently it also results in a quieter running compressor.

R12a is sometimes marketed under "Duracool".

My compressor just cycles on and off repeatedly. I suspect that it is low in Freon.
