You can sometimes rule out rings by squirting some oil into the cylinders before doing a check. If the extra oil doesn't improve the readings then the rings are usually ok. Usually compression readings don't vary by much more than 10%. The turbo pistons have a recess in the top that can trap the oil so be sure you get it on the rings.
