Diesel Compression: False bad compression reading

I finally got to do a compression check after wrestling with injector #5. I had to use a serpentine belt tool to have enough clearance to remove the injector with a 1 1/16" socket. Anyway, I was SO BUMMED when I got 300-360 psi compression. Then I decided to check th ecam timing to make sure everything was OK. Cam timing was WAY off. This totally voids the compression readings. MOral: Before you condemn your motor, double check your cam timing!! I was just about the pull the head and check the cylinder walls and a quick check saved me a lot of hassle. FYI 266,000 miles
