So... (yesterday) after fiddling around with the whole internals and backing out the bottom adjuster nut to the very limit, I was able to get my hubs back on over the brake shoes. They weren't exactly free-moving and not touching the inside of the drum however. They seemed to be rubbing just slightly. The car drives and brakes now just fine now.
Is it safe to assume that there can be a little bit of "burn in" as the pads start conforming to the shape of the drums? Could I overheat and warp the drums by driving it like this right now on the highway for a while?
