You two gave me just what I needed. A route to a repair, and the thoughts that maybe I COULD do it. Many thanks.

In fact, I intend to see if a moonroof glass unit is available from a junk yard and teach myself how to reseal it.

I had passed up the FAQs, thinking that the 1997 960 would not be in there. I will go and look.
