There's no reason it wouldn't work, except that it'll take a minute or two for the sensor to heat up to operating temp (and if it's located very far downstream from the manifold, it might not heat up enough to generate a signal at idle). The preferable option, IMHO, would be the Ford Mustang O2 sensor swap, about $40 & readily available, just involves splicing in your old connector & soldering that's a little tricky because of the type of wire used. Plenty of threads discussing this swap within the past 6 months.
