R134a availability???

It's the law of supply and demand. They have the supply, and can demand whatever they want for it. We have plenty of 134a in the stores and supply houses around here ( n Va), but the price has doubled since last year at this time. The stuff is everywhere, even my new freezer was charged with it, and I am sure they can barely keep up with demand. And probably do not want to upgrade any manufacturing facilities because they see the writing on the wall. The stuff is a major greenhouse gas violator, and is already under attack in certain parts of the world. The trend of the future seems to be the use of CO2 as a refrigerant. Dang hard to patent ( DuPont is crying, but I am sure they will try anyway), and Toyota and Honda have already jumped on it. http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2002/12/04/151245.html
