Ghetto tailgate repair - before & after

I took a piece of aluminum. Attached a bunch of construction cement to it and rivited it to existing metal. I then rolled it over and created a new bottom edge. There was acutally a span of about 4 inches where there was no metal. I then used expaning foam to help fill in the areas and seal it up. The final finsh was adhesive vinyl that I scuffed and painted over.

I have a friend that used that cement to glue a set of rear quartes on an Olds 442. It worked really well.

I already pulled the latch out - What is the point of adjustment the catch on the car itself ?
