They won't do any harm if they haven't already - and the extent of the possible damage is usually limited to the fan scraping against the shroud a bit while pulling away under heavy throttle. It also can put a bit of extra strain on your exhaust hangers. That said, the jaunt from TO to Hfx and back will be less wear and tear on the car than a few hundred kilometres of stop-&-go city driving.
