PV 444 - Passed Down from Dad 444-544 1958

Welcome Tony! You have found the right place here. You will find all the help you can ask for.

A few thoughts off the top of my head... it sounds like the mechanical condition of your car is in pretty good order. That's good, as the early (pre-'62) parts can be harder to come by than later stuff, though certainly not impossible with websites such as this one.

Bodywork is another thing... done right, it is an art form. If you've not done bodywork, I'd really recommend farming that out to a professional. That for a couple reasons... first and foremost, your odds of getting it right the first time are slim. Second, it can be really nasty work. Especially if you don't have the right tools. If your garage is attached, your house will smell like the chemicals you need to use. Third, the really fun part of such a project is the final assembly and final tweaking/adjusting of various systems to get her back on the road... having a nice shiny coat of paint on the car will provide the inspiration to do just that. In the end, it'll be done faster, and look better. I've done a fair amount of 'shade tree' bodywork over the years, but when I wanted a car to look good, I paid someone to do it.

Don't bother selling this one on ebay... you won't get much for it. And to be honest, just getting it back on the road and looking good is going to cost more than the car is worth from a financial standpoint, and I doubt you'll ever get ahead of that aspect regardless of how much work you do yourself. But, sentimental value is priceless... so keep the car. Pick at it slowly yourself and with your son as he gets older. Sounds like a great project! Good luck with it, and don't ever hesitate to post questions as they come up.
