Two Kinds Of 164 Grille? 140-160

I have a 1971 164. I bought a replacement grille, just to get the emblem off of it. When it arrived, the whole grille is plastic and a few inches shorter than mine, which is made of metal. Is there a difference in 164 grilles depending on year?
