When my father's new Peugeot 307 had turned 1500 km, I advised him to change the oil. He stopped by the dealer, who convinced him that this wasn't required any longer. Hm.

But considering yours is an old days engine, I'd apply old days wisdom. Oil is cheap, engines are not.
