Just wanted to post a tidbit of info...
While searching/reading various posts trying to find info about my rear suspension on 95 960 wagon, read where other drivers were looking for front struts. My experience is on my 95 960 wagon, the struts do not use inserts but have to be replaced. I got two Monroe sensamatics (or something) for $70 apiece. The installation was fairly simple but required care because of compressing the spring. I also didn't replace the top strut bearings or bushings which later came back to haunt me. I couldn't stop the rattling sound when the car hit bumps. Finally, I redid the installation and replaced the bushings and bearings (quite expensive) and the noice ceased. So, Monroe does offer a replacement strut much cheaper than others and change the bushings and bearings while your at it because you will regret not doing it later.
The car will need an alignment afterwards. The second go round took about 30 minutes per side.
