additional mile per gallon information

I calculated the gas mileage from this trip and find that on the trip to the beach, while the temp gauge needle was at 1/4 (+), the car was getting
24.4 mpg. On the trip back, when the needle jumped to over 1/2, the mileage was 27.81 mpg.
