I have the same problem with a 97 960.

There is a selector gate repair kit which may be suitable. Part # 9492353-9.

If you get it, tell me how it went and how much it cost. I will probably have to do the same on mine.

There are several posts on brickboard detailing sunroof disassemby (and hopefully assembly!).
