it's a clockwork (odometer) for a servicing reminder 200 1984

It's only a counter (clockwork, like an odometer) that lights up a reminder light on the dashboard to bring the car in for a servicing -- ha, ha. It was, I believe, mandated by the government's EPA regulations to ensure that the car has its emissions equipment (O2 sensor, etc.) serviced regularly to remain in compliance. Rip it out!!!
