Volvo dealership closed

There is a Volvo dealer in Tyler, TX, no more. Jack O'Diamonds Cars stopped selling Volvos two weeks ago. I found out when I stopped there to get an oil cap seal day before yesterday.

That dealership was the only one between Dallas and Shreveport.

The loss of this dealership is a small inconvenience for me. For Volvo I think it is a bigger problem. East Texas is a market of 3/4 million or so. Tyler is a town of about 100,000 population. But the parts guy told me that there was insufficient volume to continue to carry the Volvo marque. I am sure there is more to it than poor sales though. Jack O'Diamonds also sells Hondas, Lincolns, Mercurys, and Suzukis.

I guess I really don't have a point. I just thought it was a shame to lose the only dealership for more than a hundred miles in any direction.
