Bonded not riveted.
Not really Volvo related since most have 4 wheel disc. But you all are smart.
Does anyone know of a place that sells Bonded Brake Shoes NOT riveted?
I yanked the drums off one of my cars this weekend to inspect the Brakes. Decided to go and get new Rear Shoes because the rears were ‘getting there’. The shoes that were on the rear were bonded and had about 1/16th of an inch left on the thinnest part before hitting metal.
I buy new Shoes, they are riveted. I’ve seen this before, no biggy. But then after I installed them I looked at the distance from the top of the rivet to the surface of the Shoe, Hell, it wasn’t much more then that 1/16th of an inch I had left on the old shoes. With riveted shoes it seems like you give up much of the life of the Shoe.
Any thoughts about this?
