Speedometer Calibration - cable drive speedo

I once had the same problem on a car where I changed the rear axle ratio.
Took it to North Hollywood Speedometer where they put the car on rollers that had a master speedo and checked the error. They then cut the cable and installed a very tiny gear box in the cable which has selectable gears to achieve the correct speedo reading. That was about 1970. The car still has the set-up and it still works good.
If you live in Southern Cal that is a solution. Any speedo shop may have similar set-ups.
