rear diff final ratio poll

Our 83 245 GL V8 conversion started its second life with the original 3.31:1 . . . went to 3.73:1 (from 92 242, with anti-spin) when I rebuilt the AOD (transgo shift kit, commercial clutch packs, etc.).

We made 2 trips from VA to MN and back with the 3.31, averaged around 24+ mpg at 65 mph. Since installing the 3.73, we're down about 12% to 22 mpg highway (roughly the same as the change in ratio).

Overall we like the change--good pick up, very nice around town, but a 3.54:1 would probably be perfect . . . .

Hope this helps.
