ooouch!

I have lusted after this Bertone for years. It has always been priced at about twice what I would like to pay for it. However, as hard as I have tried I have not been able to find another 5 speed V8 Coupe to use as a comparable. Without a comparable there is no "real world price" until this car changes hands. That will establish it at exactly that point where the absolutely lowest price the seller is willing to accept exactly equals the absolutely highest price a buyer is willing to pay at the exact moment the deal is done. To make comps even harder is the fact that the price could be swayed in either direction by the proximity of the car to the potential buyer, the economic realities of the parties on both sides of the deal at the time the deal is consumated and things such as one's reaction to the color.

Years ago a Miami art gallery had a famous aluminum sculpture stolen. It was later found that the guy who had stolen it sold it for scrap. His perception of "real world value" limited him to seeing the value of the piece to its weight. Your comments on this car reminded me of that guy and his view of the world.

I would love to own this car and envy the guy that does. I wish him luck on the sale and wish it was me buying it.
