78 262c engine pulled for newer 240 DL engine

This should be pretty much a bolt-in swap.
Just trade out the V6 parts for 4cyl parts and off you go. Since Volvos were available with a 4cyl in 78 you may not have to have it smogged as an engine swap.
You may run into firewall clearance problems if you use an engine from a 700 series (distributor).
I'd highly recommend getting a turbo, no sense making a swap to get less horsepower.
