Reverse Lock-out using Rear Defogger Switch

Hi Folks

I was thinking about just fastening a push button switch to the gear shift lever. Maybe a simple push button on the side where your thumb could easily push it. If you use a meter probe wire, it takes thousands of cycles before breaking because it is very flexible. I am running a T56 and found, by forcing it a little, I could get in reverse anyway. The problem was I couldn't find the correct plug to plug into the reverse solenoid. I finally found a very sharp Chevy parts man who was able to figure it out and order it for me.

I know have the plug and will install it shortly. I do have some concern as to whether I need to put a relay in line to protect the switch.

Thanks

OZ
