1982 245 Restoration

Been wanting to put a V8 in my 1982 245 Diesel Wagon for the 12 years since the engine died. Bought it new and it has lived indoors all its life, including the past 12. Bought the JTR book many years ago and have read it 4 times. Camero/Firebirds are getting a little long in the tooth and GM trucks are too expensive, even rolled, so decided to switch to Ford.

The diesel car would appear to have adequate radiator/springs/torsion bar/exhaust/rear end ratio for the conversion.

Found Converse that sells conversion kits with some instructions for a Ford Explorer 1996 to 2001 302ci engine for the 240. What is in the kit for $925?

Found a 2000 Mountaineer 302/transmission in a local recycling yard. It has 11k miles, been in inside storage for 8 years and would include everything from fan to drive shaft, including wiring harness and computer, MAFS to O2S and all accessories ie: alternator, starter, PS pump, AC compressor. Anything else I need, like the axle speed sensor on my Expedition?

Found links to Volvo wiring diagrams. Researching Ford wiring/operation info today. Need links to Ford info if available. I work on Jaguars (hobby) and they have the entire factory operations/repair/electrical manual on a CD. Ford have anything like that?

Have lots of questions; like how to handle the OBDII connections. Would like to end up with a car that looks factory. Seen pictures of very good ones and others.

Would you folks comment on how deep a hole I am digging myself? The wife has said get it running or get rid of it.
